Sinajana Giants rally for 7-5 win over Braves

(Leo Palace Park)- The Sinajana Giants and Sumay Santa Rita Braves kicked off the Saturday Youth 12U Top Gun action at Leo Palace Resort.  The Giants would score three runs in the bottom of the 5th inning and Ian Trinidad would hold off the Braves in the last two innings as the Giants take their first win of the season with a 7-5 final over the Braves.

The Braves would take a 5-4 lead in the top of the 5th inning with Tyler Cruz singling and Aiden Lizama walking and then coming in to score on a Giants error.   Reliever Ian Trinidad would come in out of the bullpen for the Giants to get two outs to end the Braves rally.

But the Giants would answer in their half of the 5th inning scoring three runs with Josh Kephas capping the rally with a rbi infield single to put the Giants on top 7-5.  Trinidad would close out the Braves in the 6th to give the Giants their first win of the season.

Trinidad picks up Strike Zone Player of the Game for two innings of perfect work on the mound and was 1 for 1 with two walks, one run and one rbi.

Andrew Perez was tagged with the loss for the Braves despite allowing only two earned runs with eleven strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings of relief.  Jonah Guzman reached base three times scoring two runs for the Giants in the loss.

In other action the Yigo Astros improved to 4-0 with a 10-8 win over the Agana Heights Jaguars.  The Astros would score eight runs in the 2nd inning and hold on as their defense committed five errors in the 4th inning allowing the Braves to nearly come back to win.

Rico Miner picked up Strike Zone Player of the Game going 2 2/3 innings in relief to get the win, allowing no earned runs with four strikeouts.

The Jaguars Jobi Andrew would crush a long homerun to center field to pull the Jaguars within two runs in the 6th inning. Jonah Peredo would single with two outs to put the tying run at the plate but Trey Concepcion would get the final out on a strikeout to preserve the win and get the save for the Astros.  Andrew finished the game 2 for 3 with a double, homerun and three rbi to earn the Jaguar’s Strike Zone Player of the Game.

The Jaguars even their record at 2-2 on the season.
