In the second weekend of the Budweiser Football League 2013 season, the Raiders sailed past the Eagles 22-6 Saturday afternoon at Eagle Field.

With the likes of All-Island and MFL MVP Stephen Santos, the Raiders took home another win thanks to Santos’ quick feet and stellar defense.

“Usually during special teams, that’s where my offense kicks in. So I try to take advantage as much as I can because that’s the only place where I can hold the ball and run up,” said Santos.

Despite playing only on defense and special teams, Santos did just so and was able to score two touchdowns.

Santos wasted no time, returning the ball to the end zone in the opening kickoff to put the Raiders up early. Down 8-0, the Eagles’ Reginal Baylor retorted with a 65-yard punt return touchdown bringing the Ealges within two of the Raiders.

Quarterback Danny Manibusan threw to Alex Azcarraga for an 11-yard pass reception touchdown with two minutes left in the half, extending their Raider lead 15-6.

The clock now reading 46 seconds, the Eagles worked to get in one more score before the half; however, unfortunately for the Ealges, Santos intercepted the ball and returned it for a 58-yard touchdown. In the middle of a host of Steelers defenders, Santos found his way through mess, adding another six points to the board.

“Just go! Find the white line; find that goal line,” shared Santos about his thoughts when running with the ball.

The Eagles buckled down on defense as no points were scored in the second half.

“Luckily we scored as much as we could out during the first half because the second half, we were unable to score. The Eagles put up a good team, they’re very strong, very athletic, and pretty good competition.”

Raiders kicker Chris Santos went 2 for 2 in extra point conversions.

The Raiders improve to 2-0 while the Eagles drop to 1-1.
