Fowler, Aflague Getting Ready For Marianas Open, $10,000
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu’s black belts keep showing interest in the $10,000 grand prize in this year’s Marianas Open Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Tournament and two competitors have thrown in their hats into the mat, Mike Fowler and Terrence Aflague.
There have been numerous inquiries made by the sport’s top black belts and with Fowler taking the first step of officially entering more are sure to follow. One local black belt, Terrence Aflague, an instructor from Purebred BJJ Academy Guam, has also entered the competition.
– Fowler is the head instructor of North Shore Jiu-Jitsu Club, a non-profit organization in North Shore, Oahu. According to some sources he is the 3rd fastest American to achieve the black belt rank. He has won numerous championships and in the 2007 Abu Dhabi World Championships he defeated the legendary Renzo Gracie and Saulo Ribeiro.
– GRACIEMAG is flying a representative to Guam to cover the event. GRACIEMAG is the original Jiu-Jitsu magazine. They teach fundamentals and techniques and have been spreading the Jiu-Jitsu philosophy, diet and lifestyle since 1994.
– This is the Marianas Open’s biggest tournament do date with $10,000 up for grabs. The Marianas Open is Guam’s longest running, professional jiu-jitsu tournament featuring the best competitors that the Marianas has to offer.
