JONAH ROMERO SOCCER CAMP COMING UP

Striker Football Club welcomes home Guam footballer

PRESS RELEASE – Striker Football Club is proud to welcome home one of Guam’s footballers—Jonah Romero.

A Guam National Team player with 39 international caps, Romero played in every World Cup Qualifier during the island’s golden era, helping Guam achieve its highest FIFA ranking.  As the first Guamanian to play professionally in the Philippines and across multiple countries in Asia, Jonah paved the way for local players to dream bigger.

In 2017, he founded Zes Football Club, a youth club that toured Asia and successfully produced numerous college-bound players from Guam.  That same year, Romero made history by bringing the LA Galaxy Camo to the island—with the help of amazing families!  Making the first time a major MLS club held an elite training camp on Guam.

Now, in 2025, after a successful professional carer and transition into coaching on the U.S. mainland, Romero returns to the island with a mission.  Serving as Director of Programs for a top MLS Next club in Virginia and coaching elite-level MLS Next teams and serving as head coach of a top ECNL club in the mainland, he brings back a world-class curriculum and global experience to inspire the next generation of Guamanian footballers.

This camp is about more than just training—it’s about opening pathways.  Jonah is here to identify and develop new talent, help players build relationships with U.S. clubs, and show young athletes how to break into the next level of the game.

Camp Dates:

  • Week 1:  June 9 – 14
  • Week 2:  June 18 – 22

Half-day and full-day options available.

Throughout the camp, players will train in high-level, game-realistic environments and take part in exclusive tournaments inspired by Asian football culture:

  • AFC World Cup
  • AFC Club Champions

These tournaments will crown team champions, ignite competitive spirits, and give every player a chance to shine.  In addition, participants will take part in individual skill competitions designed to push their technical growth and creativity.

The Guam Elite Soccer Camp will feature:

  • High-intensity drills and training methodology never before seen on the island
  • Coach education sessions to uplift the local coaching community
  • Scouting opportunities and guidance for those looking to play in college or abroad
  • A player-first approach for all levels, ages 5 to 18

“This camp is for players who are serious about the game,” says Romero.  “If you’re truly committed and looking to elevate your skills, this is the camp for you.  Since launching Zes FC, I’ve believed in the talent here.  We just needed more resources and the right platform.  I’m excited to share everything I’ve learned—through my professional journey, my coaching education, and my time directing programs in MLS Next and ECNL—with the island that gave me so much on my journey.

Whether you’re preparing for college, looking to improve your game, or ready to learn something totally new, this camp is unlike anything Guam has ever experienced.  Spaces are limited, and this is just the beginning.  Be part of something special!

Sign up today.  Two weeks of elite training.  Ages 5-18.  Guam’s best soccer experience of the year.

A big thank you to Keith Dickson and Strykers FC for making this happen for the talent of Guam.”
