GUAHAN CAPTURES SENIOR SPRING CROWN

PRESS RELEASE-The 2013 Guam Seniors Spring Baseball League (GSSBL) is over.

Guahan closed up the GSSBL with the 13-10 win over the Agat Cardinals in the Championship game at Paseo on Monday night, August 19, 2013.

After losing Sunday night to force the “IF” game in the Double-Elimination Playoff format, Guahan came back strong to hold off a determined Cardinal team that would not go down easy.

The big inning for Guahan was in the bottom of the 2nd, when they plated seven runs to take a 7-4 lead. Agat scored five in the top of the 5th, but that was all. Guahan scored three in the 3rd, one in the 4th, and scored two runs in the bottom of the 5th to cap the scoring.

 

Agat Cardinals: Troy Anderson, 3-for-5, RBI, 2 Runs. Rick Cordero, 2-for-3, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 Runs.

Guahan: Charlie Cabarles, 3-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 Runs. Eloy Fujikawa, 3-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 Runs. Calvin Toves, 3-for-4, 2 RBI, Run. Keith Hattig, 2-for-5, 2 RBI, Run.

 

After the game, trophies were given out to the top four teams in 2013 Championship Playoffs and Batting Crown Title, to include:

 

Guahan 1st Place, 2013 Guam Seniors Spring Baseball League Champions

Agat Cardinals 2nd Place, Runners Up

Padres 3rd Place

Payless Typhoons 4th Place

 

Batting Crown Title: Jose Cabarles, Guahan, Regular Season Batting Average: .684 (Minimum 36 at bats)
