PRESS RELEASE – Sakudee rallies to take down AF Reserves
Thursday night at Leo Palace Resort Sakudee continued their surge through the Budweiser King of the Diamond loser’s bracket fighting their way back to eliminate the AF Reserves by a score of 10-8. Starter Auron Ecalvea held on for 5 1/3 quality innings to get the win and Vic Fernandez Sr. closed out the last 1 2/3 innings to notch the save for Sakudee.
Sakudee would battle back taking advantage of defense miscues to score 6 runs in the bottom of the 5th. Dootch Naputi would drive in 2 runs with a long triple to right center to give the Reserves their first lead of the game 9-4.
The AF Reserves answered in the 6th inning finally chasing Eclavea with 4 runs to narrow the gap to 9-8. Jacob Bamba and Ton Gumataotao provided back to back singles to lead the Reserve’s rally.
Sakudee would add an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th inning with Matt Barcinas doubling to lead off the inning and scoring on a Dootch Naputi rbi fielder’s choice. Barcinas would finish the game 2-3 with 2 runs to grab Strike Zone Player of the Game. Naputi finished 1-2 with 2 rbi and the key triple.
AF Reserves got runners on in the 7th threatening to come back with bases loaded and two outs but Fernandez Sr would close the door getting the final batter to pop up to 2nd base for the final out and preserve the win.
Sakudee continues their quest through the loser’s bracket and will take on the winner of Blue Jays and Barrigada Crusaders this Sunday 3pm at Leo Palace Stadium.
