WOMEN’S HOOPS LEAGUE STARTS

PRESS RELEASE – The 1st Annual Women’s New Year’s Basketball League, sponsored by the Guam Basketball Confederation, kicked off Sunday night at the Father Duenas Jungle Gym. First of its kind, this league features an open division with talent from the following eight women’s teams: Aloha Maid Mystics, Fuetsa, Guam Master’s, Senior National Blue, Senior National Red, Thunder Cats Club, Sharks Club, and the Warriors Club.

Game #1: Aloha Maid Mystics (29) vs. Senior National Red (49)

Top scorers: Aloha Maid’s Lulu Cruz Ramirez with 7 points and Sharon Del Mundo with 5 points; Senior National’s Charity Lujan with 15 points and Kathryn Castro with 14 points

Game #2: Senior National Blue (68) vs. Warriors Club (19)

Top scorers: Senior National’s Brianna Benito with 18 points and Raelene Tajalle with 12 points; Warriors’ Joy Pangelinan with 11 points and Justine Yeban with 4 points

Game #3: Thunder Cats Club (45) vs. Guam Master’s (40)

Top scorers: Thunder Cats’ Alina Bonto with 15 points and Kara Duenas with 10 points; Guam Masters’ Roxanne Mad with 12 points and Eva Ada with 7 points

To catch the action, women’s games will be held every Sunday evening at 6 pm, 7 pm, and 8 pm at the FD “Jungle” Gym. Games will continue until mid-April as the league follows a single round robin and single elimination play-off format.
