PRESS RELEASE – Sunday, February 9, 2014 – CENTRAL LANES BOWLING CENTER, Tamuning, Guam
Manny Tagle is now two for two in senior bowling title runs by rolling nine strikes in a row en route to a 276-238 plus handicap victory over top seed Norison Catbagan to be the February Senior Bowler of the Month.
Catbagan led the 6 game qualifier with a 1389 pin count with handicap averaging 226.5 pins per game. 10th seed Zaldy Ponce opened the shootout round by knocking off 6th seed Ben Taimanglo and 8th seed Nap Carino in bracket A while 7th seed Ray Manibusan topped bracket B, eliminating 9th seed Kathy Mandapat and 5th seed Joe Mafnas.
In the quarterfinals, Manibusan continued by upsetting 4th seed Jim Pinaula. However 3rd seed Josie Catbagan stopped Ponce’s title quest setting up a semi final February love matchup against her husband and top seed Norison.
Norison Catbagan kissed his wife Josie good bye 229-179 with handicap as 2nd seed Tagle stopped Manibusan with a narrow 199-189 plus handicap victory.
It was all business after that in the title match as Catbagan rolled a great game, but could not overcome Tagle’s front nine strikes for the championship and cash prize.
The next contest in this year’s senior bowling calendar will be the Guam Senior Bowlers Federation Annual Bowling Championship on February 23rd at Central Lanes at 10:00 A.M. This event is open to all bowlers who are age 50 on the day of the tournament.
