In the Matua division, the Hawaiian Rock Eagles and the Northern Yigo Jets entered their GNYFF game Sunday afternoon with identical 0-4 records. The teams exited the field without a win and without a loss. The Jets and the Eagles came to a 7-7 draw after four quarters of play at Eagle field.

About the tie, “Its really good, especially for both of our teams, we feel the same way because we never won a game,” said Jets’ Terence Siongco.

Although one would think that the teams were eager for a win, this goal was not as high a priority as each touchdown scorer was just glad that they played as a team and played with heart.

“It doesn’t really matter to me whether we tied or not, at least we still tied over a team. They gave us a hard time, but we still put our hearts out there and managed to get a touchdown,” said Eagles Branden Carriaga.

“Play fair; have fun,” said Siongco.

Both teams gave it their all and left it all out on the field. This was evident as players placed their teams’ well-being before themselves, sacrificing their bodies and pushing the pain aside to play to the best they could. A sense of humility could be picked up from the players who put points on the board for their respective teams.

The second quarter saw both teams run into the end zones.

After working their way down the field, Jets’ Siongco sped to the left, untouched, for a three-yard touchdown early in the second.

“I’m not the one who made the touch down the whole team did,” said Siongco.

As for the Eagles, Carriaga also had a three-yard carry, scoring right before half time. Carriaga broke a tackle and dove into the end zone even though the Jets defense were wrapped around him.

“It makes me feel good [to score], but also for the team, I did it for them, not just for me,” said Carriaga.
