Guam MMA fighter Jon Tuck has been officially placed on the UFC Macau fight card scheduled for Nov. 10, according to UFC.com.
It is the first time in history that a Guam athlete will be fighting in a big UFC event, the highest-level of mixed martial arts competition in the world.
The fight card is highlighted by a main event featuring former UFC champion Rich Franklin and former Strikeforce champion Cung Le set in the 15,000-seat The Venetian Macau Resort Hotel.
The 28-year-old Tuck (6-0) will be going up against 34-year-old Zhang Tiequan (15-3) from China Top Team in a lightweight bout. Zhang’s last three fights were in the UFC, going 1-2.
Also on the card is recently-signed PXC welterweight champion Hyun Gyu Lim.
Tuck follows JR Hattig as Guam’s professional athletes to make it to the highest level in their respective sport. Hattig made it up to the major leagues with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2006.
