GSPN: Were you surprised you won the Defensive MVP?
JS: Yes sir, I’m really proud
GSPN: Okkodo’s record is 3-4 compared to last year’s season 5-4 record. Do you think the league is just more competitive this year?
JS: Yes, I think the league has a lot of talented players.
GSPN: What does it mean for you to win Defensive MVP for yourself, your team, and your school?
JS: It means a lot to me, because I’m a senior. All I ever wanted was to be known as the best defensive player. I’ve played for Okkodo High School and made the All-Island team selections. To my team, it means that we can do it. We just have to put our minds to it. And to my school, it’s history because I am the first football MVP since Okkodo has opened.
GSPN: How has your game improved from last year?
JS: I feel that I have gotten stronger, smarter, and became a better leader.
GSPN: Can Okkodo start a tradition of winning in football? You have the facilities, coaches, players, and Dededo is the biggest village.
JS: Our football program for Okkodo is still developing, so we are just look forward to playing each and every game with heart, pride, and courage. And throughout the week, we work hard and give it our all for the game.

GSPN: Do you aspire to play college football?
JS: I plan to play college football. I feel confident that I have the talent to play.
GSPN: Do you envision a football season where Guam could have a player recruited for Division I or II from any IIAGG School?
JS: I hope that it is possible for us Guam football players to be recruited.
GSPN: Your known for being a physical and intense player. Who in football inspires your game locally or off-island?
JS: Ryan Rios, locally, and Ray Lewis, a pro-linebacker, inspires my game. They inspire me to read and pick off the offensive plays right off the bat and to hit hard.
GSPN: Finally, how important is it to win the island title this year?
JS: To me, it’s really important that we win the island title this year because we’re the underdogs with the league MVP and our defense is considered number one. I just hope and pray that we take home the championship title for football this year.
