The Giants claimed their second Metgot division victory thanks to the quick feet of Jalana Garcia winning 27-8 over the Eagles Saturday afternoon at Eagle field.
Garcia, who is one of six girls on the team, scored a touchdown in each half. Garcia’s explosive running proved to be too much for the Eagles as she grabbed multiple first downs, gaining 10-15 yards a pop.
In the second half, the Giants offense played with effectiveness making each run count, thus giving them two more touchdowns.
After runs by Garcia and Gaven Salas, Raiders quarterback Kristian-Chad Quintanilla slipped into the end zone on a quarterback sneak. A completed extra point then put the Raiders at 21-8 at the start of the fourth quarter.
In the final minute of the game, Garcia struck again. With only three yards separating Garcia and the end zone, she ran out wide for her final touchdown of the game.
The Eagles led 8-0 thanks to Edison Santos and a successful two-point conversion early on in the game. Garcia answered back with a long touchdown run of her own.
“I was at about the 40 or 50-yard line and I just ran it all the way in,” said Garcia.
“Where we took off at the beginning of the season, our offense really had to gel. They finally stepped up. They did outstanding, a lot of improvements,” said head coach Jeffrey Garcia.

Garcia is only twelve years old and has been playing for the Giants for three or four years now. Although saying that she does not like running, she loves the sport; she loves football.
“Are you faster than all the boys on the team Jalana,” asked GSPN.
Garcia replied, “I don’t know. That’s what people say.”
“I’m sure you’ve raced the boys before. Are you the fastest?”
A laughing Garcia said, “Okay… yes I am.”
With the win, the Giants now improve to 2-3.
