The 2013 VI East Asian Games are set to go in October and Guam’s best bowlers are ready to strike down the competition. The team of five have been working together this past year, with the world famous National Philippines bowling coach Johnson Cheng, not only on their bowling skills but conditioning and staying in shape too.
Jay Leon Guerrero knows that he and the boys have the best chance to bring home medals for Guam since there are no disadvantages or match-up problems, just a test of skills. The last person to medal for Guam in the East Asian Games was Joey Miranda III.
“Everyone starts at zero,” stated Leon Guerrero, who hopes he brings in his first East Asian medal after missing the chance last outing by just eight pins. “There are no weight classes nor are there separations between brown belt and black belt. I like our chances.”

Leon Guerrero believes that Guam is the fifth best of the nine teams competing. Hong Kong are the defending Asian champs but this team feels that if they pose a threat to anyone if they get on a roll. (no pun intended)
Guam bowling phenomenon Keith Guerrero has been to the East Asian Games before and knows his experience will help him perform at a better level. “We’ve seen how they perform and we want to get to that level as well,” Guerrero stated, who was as confident as they come. “We don’t want to make Guam look bad so we’re definitely going to do our best when we get out there.”
Both Jay and Keith speak for the whole team when the say they thrive on the pressure. They have no sixth man to alternate so the national bowlers will be trying to stay healthy while also giving it all they have.
