The Pepsi Warriors made a convincing statement that they are the team to beat in the Miller Football League as they defeated IP&E Hal’s Angels 36-14 Saturday at the UOG field. The Warriors finish the season as the only undefeated team heading into the playoffs.
The running tandem of Hosea Ware and Xavier Reyes shined as both set up two straight first downs late in the fourth setting up a Reyes TD from the three-yard line sealing the deal for Pepsi at 35-14.
The Warriors were aggressive from the start, as quarterback Danny Manibusan threw a deep ball to Alex Azcarraga for a 42-yard touchdown giving them the early lead at 7-0 after the PAT.
The Angels would fire back after a highlight-reel type 63-yard punt return from Reggie Baylor put the Angels within two at 14-12. Quarterback Steven Phillips would connect with Angel Cordero on the two point conversion tying the game at 14-14 midway through the second quarter. Pepsi would respond by Manibusan finding Paul Unger in the endzone for a touchdown making the score 21-14 after Chris Santos nailed the PAT.
That was the closest IP&E would ever get as Pepsi took over in the second half.

Manibusan hit Sandy Fejeran for a big 45-yard catch getting the first down at the goal line. Ware would punch it in on the next play giving the Warriors a 27-14 lead heading into halftime.
Pepsi’s defense was on point in the second half making it hard for the Angels to score let alone get a first down. Santos intercepted a pass from Phillips in the redzone with seven minutes left in the fourth ending any chance of an Angels comeback. The Warriors would also score a safety after Anslemo Untalan sacked Phillips, building the lead at 29-14.
Pepsi finishes the regular season with an undefeated record of 6-0 as the Angels drop to 3-3. The Semifinals begin next Saturday at UOG.
