Southern has a new coach and his name is Arsenio Babauta. He brings success from the GNYFF and Women’s league as a defensive coach. The coach is Oceanview Alumni and wanted to take on the challenge of changing the culture of the program. He will be aided by fellow coaches Jontue Lee, Ron Tenorio, Patrick Flores, and Joe Terlaje. The theme this year is a new team, new beginning. Offseason workouts and practice started June 14.

Camacho brings the most varsity experience with two seasons played and is a junior. New players with experience from the youth league will bring much needed help.

”We have experienced players coming from the GNYFF” said Flores.

Tenorio brings his talents from the youth league and will start at QB/CB for Southern. Callaway brings much needed size to the line at 6’4 and 265 lbs. The dolphins should be more competitive this season and will look for their first win in almost three years.

“The biggest difference is preparation. The players are more confident with the system we run in and have a better understanding of how to play within the system” said Lee. The Dolphins host two time defending champion Simon Sanchez Sharks on Saturday at 3:00 PM.
