PRESS RELEASE – The Premier Girls Fastpitch bracket play continued on Thursday with the Seawalker U18 Guam Girls Fastpitch travel team. The elimination game was Thursday at Fountain Valley sports complex @1045 am vs Spokane Crash 18u. Spokane Crash came up victorious over Seawalker Guam Fastpitch Travel Team 9-4.
Highlights for Guam came in the bottom of the 5th inning when Ciera Cali, Colleen Quinata and Meagan Maratita loaded the bases, 2nd baseman Samantha Quinata came up next and crushed a fastball to left Centerfield for a bases clearing stand up triple. Catcher Sirena Cepeda (2-3) followed with a single if her own to bring in Quinata from 3rd base.
Juliana Nelson (2-3) continued with her single of her own but both were left stranded as centerfield struck out to end the rally. Many thanks to the California guamanians who came out to support the girls. The girls were treated last Saturday to a guest inspirational speaker in Kristen Arriola (DIV I university of Arizona Wildcat 2nd baseman with and two college World Series appearances) who is a Guamanian who resides in California after she was impressed after Seawalker Guam’s 7-6 come from behind victory last Saturday over NW Batbusters.
We look forward to our goal of the possibility of all our girls getting committed to by next years tournament after meeting with DIVISION I through DIVISION III scouts and recruiters which all mentioned that These ladies placed Guam on the map with their play and class on the field. Seawalker Guam arrives in Guam on Tuesday, August 3rd from Honolulu @6pm.
