The pre-season All-Island team features a return for majority of players that were IIAAG 1st Team, 2nd team, and Honorable Mention for the 2014/15 season.
Cameron Callaway and Sage Garcia were All-Island performers on offense and defense while the offensive talent of Devin Duenas, Danon Mojica, and Juan King Jr provided yards through both the air and on the ground.
Freshman running back standout De’Aundre Cruz plans to build off of his first year, returning to the FD Friars backfield. Cruz put up 223 yards on the Guam High Panthers behind a very experienced offensive line. The team has since lost a couple of lineman leaders, but Cruz’ talent should still make him a lethal threat on every down.
Trip Chauret returns from attending multiple college camps and will look to play college somewhere in 2016. All seven schools are represented on this year’s team.
Last year was one to forget for the Sanchez Sharks after being one of the more dominant teams over the past five years. Tight end Tre Leon did make some waves last season and he emerges as the leagues top tight end for the 2015 season. The Sharks are also welcoming back defensive playmaker Jonathan Saralu to anchor a young black and silver squad.
Bulldog defensive standout Jesse Carl Cruz wrecked havoc on the league last season, helping Okkodo reign as one of the leagues top defenses. Cruz returns for his final year with Okkodo and his ability to track down ball carriers would make it tough for anyone to pass through him.
The JFK Islanders defense may have shocked the league last year with their hard-nosed style of play, but the likes of defensive standouts like Sean Gomez and Sage Garcia, they were contenders all season long. Both are back for the green and gold after they aim to finish stronger than last season, but they will be without starting quarterback Quintin Iriarte.
The defending champion GW Geckos may have lost the defensive and offensive MVP from last season in Hank Sablan and Kelvin Hocog, but they still have alot of talent on both sides from quarterback Brendan Santos to defensive stopper Damon Hocog.
Tiyan fields a new team and may just have a player make All-Island by season’s end.
