After years away from track and field competition, Guam strongman Justin Andre came away with two bronze medals at the Oceania Athletics Championship 2015 in Cairns, Australia this weekend.
The former Micronesian Games gold medalist took some years off and concentrated on football as a defensive lineman with the MFL champion Pepsi Warriors. He was back in the cage doing what he does well with the discus and the hammer throw.
Johnny Quitugua was the only other Guam athlete the garner a medal – a bronze in the triple jump.
Meanwhile, high school track star Regine Tugade continues to impress, breaking her national record in the 200m event TWICE once more. She broke it twice last year in the Cook Islands and breaking it twice this year again, dropping it to 25.51 seconds and finally 25.28 seconds!
Here’s the individual results from Team Guam:
Diana Alicto: 25.14m (javelin)
Michael Alicto: 11.86s (100m); 23.75s (200m prelims); 24.04s (200m semis)
