RACERS FLY IN FIRST MOTOCROSS EVENT OF 2015

This past Sunday Guam’s motocross racers and fans were back out at the Guam International Raceway for the final holiday event but the first motocross event of the new year.

2015 Guam New Years Motocross

This past Sunday Guam’s motocross racers and fans were back out at the Guam International Raceway for the final holiday event but the first motocross event of the new year. Sunday’s event dubbed the 2015 Guam New Years Motocross. A stand alone and non championship point earning motocross laid out as to help keep Guam’s championship contenders racing skills sharp in anticipation of the 2015 Monster Energy Guam Motocross Championships which will be a twelve round series that begins on March 15th.

Sunday’s event was also a starting point for those riders who are interested in participating in this year’s championship series. The course on Sunday was rough and very demanding physically with very little time for the riders to rest as they navigated through braking bumps, the ruts and over the many jumps.

Highlights/results

In the premier Open Motorcycles class three time Guam Champion JR Cepeda aboard the #1 Cycles Plus Kawasaki was once more untouchable as he cut through to the front to take the lead and the win. Placing second was #75 Jeff Rios on his Autoworks supported Yamaha with #100 Steve Turo on a Kawasaki finishing third.

In the Kids Open Mini bike class #25 Ethan Turo on a Kawasaki took the win in the first of two heats with #1 Sasha Song on a Honda taking the win in the second heat. Overall win went to Sasha Song with Ethan Turo placing second and Stoney Bucek on the Cycles Plus Kawasaki taking third.

In the Kids 65cc Mini bike class #31 Robert Encina on his Kawasaki took the win with first time racer Laurence Limtiaco on a Suzuki placing second and Devin Encina on a Kawasaki taking third.

In the Kids 50cc Mini bike class #31 Richard Wenden took the win with Trent King and Thomas King placing second and third respectively.

In the final race of the day the Open Atv class #83 Daniel Champion aboard a Suzuki pulled away from the reigning champion #1 Robert Bucek aboard a Cycles Plus Suzuki to take a dominating win with Bucek finishing a distant second.

Up next will be a very special event for all of Guam’s motocross riders and its fans. On January 25th the #88 Gary Camacho Tribute Motocross and Fund raiser will take place at the Guam International Raceway. Gates open at 9am with the racing to start at 12noon.
