The FD Friars exploded for a 75-0 victory over the Okkodo Bulldogs Friday night.
Before their defense could hit the field, the Friars had already posted two touchdowns on the board – deflating the Bulldog homecoming party before it could get started.
Quarterback Daniel Phillips threw three touchdowns for 106 yards on 4-of-4 passing. De’Aundre Cruz only had four carries on the day, amassing 79 yards and a touchdown. Receiver Xavier Naputi caught two passes for 71 yards, both catches being touchdown grabs. Sophomore running back Kein Artero found the end zone twice, taking four carries for 44 yards.
Naputi’s last six catches, including his four against Sanchez, have all be touchdowns.
The Friar defense and special teams matched the offensive output with Noah Diaz leading the way with two scores. Diaz took the opening kickoff 102 yards for a touchdown and later added one on defense, taking an interception 47 yards on a pick-six. Safety Brandon Kinsella had two interceptions, taking one of his picks 30 yards for a touchdown return.
De’Aundre Cruz also had five tackles on defense, the most he’s played defense in his football career.
Naputi took his only punt return to the house from 58 yards in the 1st quarter.
FD’s defense forced seven total turnovers and sacked Bulldog quarterback Andrew Perez four times. Isiah Reyes forced two fumbles, recovered two fumbles, and sacked Perez twice on his own. Rylan Napoleon and Kobe Onedera added the other sacks.
Okkodo’s biggest gain came via 25 yards on their first drive on a pass from Perez. The Friars kept Okkodo out of the red zone all game.
FD will play the GW Geckos in the season finale next weekend at UOG.
