MACIAS FINDS JAMANILA THRICE AGAINST SCORELESS PANTHERS

GW Gecko rookie Ricky Macias threw four touchdowns, including three to receiver Aaron Jamanila, in the teams 28-0 homecoming romping of the Guam High Panthers on a cool Saturday afternoon. With all things considered, Macias wanted to ensure a homecoming victory for his veteran teammates.
“I was a littler nervous because getting a win for the seniors would make it a memorable homecoming for them. I’m just happy we went out and did that,” said Macias on the day.
Macias tossed a 12-yard touchdown pass to Florencio ‘Flo’ Untalan in the 2nd quarter outside of his scores to Jamanila, who has been as sure handed as any receiver in the league.
The Gecko defense capitalized on four Panther turnovers and turned three of the turnovers into scores.
Macias quickly hit Jamanila for an 11-yard score in the 1st quarter, followed by a toss to Untalan on the second offensive series for a 14-0 lead.
Jamanila got loose on the sidelines midway through the 2nd quarter inside the red zone as Macias laid a touch pass right over the defense for the an easy score, Jamanila’s second touchdown grab.

On fourth-down late in the 3rd, Macias darted a throw to Jamanila, who broke away from double coverage on a post route, for the games final score from 23 yards.
Despite it being the first year Macias and Jamanila have played together, their chemistry has translated to multiple touchdowns per game between the two alone.
“There’s a bond we have. We joke around and have fun in practice and we both play hard every game,” said Macias.
With only one game left in the regular season, the Geckos will now face the top seeded Friars in the finale at UOG next weekend. FD hasn’t lost a game in over two seasons and this will Macias first time suiting up against the ‘maroon and gold’.
“We’re going to work hard in practice this week and fix up what mistakes we’ve been making. We have to come to play,” said Macias on next weekend’s big game.
