PACIFIC GAMES: SCHULTE GETS SILVER, GUAM LADIES FALL TO SAMOA

Team Guam is more than halfway through their first week of competition in the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa with swimmer Benji Schulte highlighting the day with a Silver medal.

Schulte picked up silver in the 50m Breaststroke in the early mornings, picking up Guam’s sixth silver medal after weightliftings big haul on Tuesday.

Guam’s Women’s Basketball team fell to the host team American Samoa 85-76. Destiny Castro’s 27 points and 12 rebounds weren’t enough to get Guam over the hump as they fall for the first time this tournament.

Men’s Basketball’s Takumi Simon splashed in a huge performance against Tonga, netting seven three pointers on his way to 30 points to lead Guam in the 101-65 victory.

Guam collected seven total medals in weightlifting.

  • Dayamaya Calma 49kg 2 silver & 1 bronze
  • Jacinta Sumagaysay 55kg 3 silver

Guam’s beach volleyball duo of Brian Tsuji and Zach Zacarias finished 9th place of 16 total teams with a notable win coming against New Caledonia.

The Men’s Va’a team came in 4th place in the V6 1500m finals.

Guam Tennis lost 2-to-1 against Tonga.
