REPORT: HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL DELAYED ONE WEEK

Wrong equipment order cause of delay

Published on

The highly-anticipated ISA Football League will have to wait another week before kicking off.

Scheduled to start this Friday night, the ISA sports leaders met Monday and voted 5-1 to delay the season one week, confirmed by GDOE Deputy Superintendent Joe Sanchez.

The reason is believed to be because most GDOE schools were sent the wrong size of football equipment. It was the arrival of new football gear that caused the season to be pushed to the 4th quarter of sports, as opposed to the normal 1st Quarter scheduling.

An updated schedule has yet to be released, so stay tuned to GSPN’s sports calendar for the latest.

With the delay, the football season is now expected to conclude at the end of May with the league’s intention of placing football back in its 1st Quarter calendar. That means teams will have two months off before ramping back up in August.
