PRESS RELEASE – This past Sunday, September 29th, riders from around the Pacific descended upon beautiful Palau to take on the grueling Palau Independence Day Cycling Challenge 100-kilometer course. Riders also had the recreational option of a shorter course, the 50K. We’re proud our Guam gentlemen had a fast, safe, and mechanical-free race with Guam’s 2x National Road Champion Blayde Blas taking the win with his fellow teammate Derek Horton in 2nd Place.
“The course is very tough with constant rolling hills that feel like they never end. 1st half of race went by very smooth. The 2nd half of the race is when it got really hard. The sun came out and there was hardly any wind… It feels great to win especially with all the hard work that has to be done on the bike in order to perform during the race. It was also awesome to have my girlfriend and dad come out to race and support me.” – Blayde Blas.
