BOWLERS ROLL TO ALL-ISLAND HONORS

Duenas, Cabarles take top honors

The pins flew and the pressure soared as two rising sophomores—Tiyan Titan Eyan Duenas and JFK Islander Charlie Cabarles—blazed their way to ISA All-Island Gold in a thrilling showcase of youth talent and clutch performances at Central Lanes Bowling Center.

Boys Division: Duenas Delivers a Masterclass

Eyan Duenas lit up the lanes with a fiery 667 series, averaging 222 across games of 224, 208, and a commanding 235. His precision and poise outpaced top-seeded Christof Pineda of JFK by 45 pins, flipping the script on the bracket and setting the tone for a dramatic step ladder finale.

GW Gecko Geovanni Kintoki clawed his way into the step ladder with a clutch 233 final game, edging out SSHS Shark Cyrus Abad by 17 pins. Sharks Joseph Quintanilla and Bill Rey Donor followed closely, with Donor making waves early with a sharp 218. Islander Zayne Ayangco, Shark Christian Bernal, and Titan duo Xavier Sablan and Joseph Mesa rounded out a fiercely competitive top ten.

In the step ladder opener, Pineda overcame an early deficit after Kintoki’s turkey, rallying with a mid-game turkey of his own. A pair of missed spares by Kintoki cracked the door open, and Pineda stormed through to claim the match.

But the championship belonged to Duenas. After both bowlers stumbled in the first frame, Duenas ignited with a turkey and then unleashed a six-bagger that left the crowd roaring and Pineda chasing shadows. The final score: 253–184. A golden moment for the sophomore phenom.

Girls Division: Cabarles Climbs, Conquers, and Claims Gold

Anna Rice of JFK led the girls shootout with a steady hand, topping Bulldog Anne Nicole Leonardo by 25 pins and edging teammate Charlie Cabarles by just four marks. But Cabarles wasn’t done.

Southern Dolphins made a splash with five bowlers in the top ten: Amira Madrelino (4th), Lynneia Quitugua (5th), Emriel Salanatin (7th), Crystel Abad (9th), and Cyrish Abad (10th), who clinched her spot with a one-ball tiebreaker against Titan Sarah Tumamak.

In the semifinal, Cabarles turned up the heat with a turkey that sealed her advance to the finals. Then came the fireworks—Cabarles unleashed a season-high 205 to rout Rice and raise the championship trophy high. A golden finish for the Islander sophomore.
