The JFK Islanders secured their first win of the ISA Football season against the Okkodo Bulldogs at Okkodo Field. The Islanders improved to 1-2 for the season after Saturday afternoon’s 18-0 victory.

Players of the Game: Dallas Mohr and Ray Tommy Kanemoto

After a scoreless first quarter, the Islanders opened scoring just before halftime with a 6-yard touchdown run by Dallas Mohr. The extra point attempt was blocked by Okkodo’s Tyler Martinez, making the score 6-0. It was the first points put up for JFK after two shutout losses.

The Bulldogs started the second half with strong field position after Tristen Martinez returned the kickoff 53 yards into the red zone. However, the Islander defense, led by Vandahlei Mansapit, held strong and forced a turnover on downs. The JFK defense continued to frustrate the Bulldogs’ offense throughout the game, preventing them from scoring.

In the fourth quarter, Ray Tommy Kanemoto scored two insurance touchdowns for the Islanders: a 17-yard run (extra point wide left) and a 33-yard run (two-point pass incomplete), bringing the final score to 18-0.

Despite their offensive struggles, the Bulldogs’ defense showed resilience through the first three quarters. Notable performances included Tristen Martinez with four tackles and a 53-yard kickoff return, and interceptions by Paul Quenga and Rexsan Tonaw. The Bulldogs now stand at 0-4 for the season and will have a bye week to regroup.

JFK will aim to maintain their momentum in their next game against the undefeated GW Geckos.
