AFLLEJE CHOKES HIS WAY TO FURY AMATEUR TITLE

Goal set. Goal accomplished.

Ethan Aflleje wasted no time in claiming the amateur bantamweight belt at Fury FC 120 Sunday in Houston, Texas, tapping out Javier Ramirez in the first round.

The 21-year-old from Anao, Yigo rocked his opponent just seconds into the opening bell and almost locked in an armbar shortly thereafter. Ramirez was able to sneak out of the hold and get back on his feet, but that was short lived as a solid left hook from Aflleje resulted in another knockdown.

Moments later, it was all over with an unbreakable, text book armbar.

“Man, I feel so good,” Aflleje said after the big win. “I planned and executed the mission. This was a dream in the making and I made it happen. All I can say is ‘Biba Guam’ and this one is for the Marianas and my family.”

With the amateur mission accomplished after five fights (4-1 with 4 submissions), Affleje now sets his sights on a pro career – sentiments shared by the Fury broadcasters after an impressive performance.

Already with five fights in a 13-month span with Fury, Aflleje intends to stay busy with hopes of making his pro debut in July.

He plans on coming home later this month for a week.
