AFLLEJE FIGHTS FOR FURY CROWN THIS WEEKEND

He’s barely 21-years-old, yet Ethan Aflleje fights like a veteran – and now he has one of America’s most coveted amateur MMA belts in his sight this weekend.

Aflleje goes up for the Fury FC amateur bantamweight title on Sunday in Houston, Texas (Monday, Guam time). A win and the intentions will be to turn pro.

“Fight camp has been great,” Aflleje said. “This is what I’ve been dreaming about and working hard for. I get a chance to prove I belong with the best and put Guam on the map again. I’ve been putting in countless hours in the gym and it’s all going to pay off May 31.”

The Anao, Yigo native made the big move last year just past his 20th birthday. Considered to be one of Guam’s naturally talented young fighters, he’s been busy in the Fury promotion, going 3-1 with three first round finishes in just 10 months.

“It’s going amazing man,” the youngster said. “I feel great – mind, body, and soul feels good. I’m ready to take what’s mine and make history, not only for myself but for my family and people of the Marianas.”

With a pro card in reach, Aflleje has extra incentive in this weekend’s fight as Supertyphoon Sinlaku still sits on his mind.

“This fight means a lot to me because I know Guam and the Marianas went through a bad typhoon. I’m also fundraising money through my shirts to help people that got affected by the typhoon.”
