MOTOCROSS ROUND 4 PULLS OFF TRIPLE CROWN FORMAT
PRESS RELEASE – Round 4 of the 2026 Monster Energy Guam Motocross Championships held this past Sunday saw dry and dusty conditions on an improved layout. The dry conditions made for a very unpredictable racing surface making for another challenging championship round. The Tebo Motocross Park in the village of Yona has proven itself as an ideal place for watching all the up close thrills and spills that is a normal part of the sport of motocross while at the same time tending to your barbecue making for a perfect time for the entire family.
Motocross island style is a family sport in which the entire family gets involved in the sport with championship classes that include kids mini bike and mini atv classes that are best suited for any ones particular skill level. It has been a growth year as first time riders along with older vet riders have been taking up the thrill of twisting a throttle and going and logging in some flight time.
Round 4 was a triple crown which meant each class would be racing three times and be awarded points according to their finish for each of the three races known also as heats or motos to determine their overall standing for the round. Each weekend championship round is then accumulated and at the end of the championship series the rider with the highest point total is crowned a champion in that particular class.
In the premier Open Motorcycle class the current championship points leader #31 Richard Wenden took his Rocky Mountain Precast Ktm 250 to the top step of the podium taking his third round win of the season. Taking second was reigning champion Kawasaki mounted #1 JR Cepeda with #3 Tim Wenden taking third on a Rocky Mountain Precast supported Ktm. Rounding out the top five were a pair of Cyclesplus Kawasaki team riders #18 Lil Jon Aguon and #85 Blaze Aiken. #31 Richard Wenden has increased his lead in the championship standings with 278 points over #1 JR Cepeda who holds 267 points. #3 Tim Wenden sits in third with 238 points.
In the premier Open Atv class taking the overall was reigning champion #1 Rob Bucek aboard a CyclesPlus Suzuki ltr450 . Taking second and third respectively was the father and son team of #9 Camillo Lorenzo and #7 Gavin Lorenzo both mounted on identical Yamaha Yfz450 machines. #1 Rob Bucek on his CyclesPlus Suzuki leads the championship standings with 244 points over #9 Camillo Lorenzo on a Yamaha with 174 points and #7 Gavin Lorenzo on a Yamaha with 156 points.
The Schoolboy combined with the Novice class had #8 Jonboy Agoun on a Kawasaki sweeping all three heats for the overall in both the Schoolboy and Novice classes. Taking second in the Schoolboy was #141 Julian Lane. Taking second in the Novice class was #876 Lyle Nemhard. Taking third in the Novice class was #13 William Mooney.
In the Over 40 Vet class #505 Justin Chinana took the overall round win over #77 Gregorio Perez who was followed by the Overall winner in the over 55 Legends class #75 Jeffro Rios and 2nd place finisher #101 Rob Bucek who was taking up racing on both motorcycles and atvs this season.
The kids minibike and kids mini atv classes were as it had before a crowd favorite as friends and family become quite vocal cheering and waving their arms to help inspire their friend, brother, sister or child on. The racing is always exciting and the young guns always give it a 100 percent.
In the 65cc class round 4 had #38 Jayce Mantanona take the win with #111 Mazzy Chinana in second and #23 Gianna GiGi Lane finishing in third.
The 85cc class had Aiden Mantanona took another 1st with Elias SanNicolas in 2nd.
The Mini Atv class #10 Giancarlo Lorenzo took the win over #93 Tyler Onedera in second with Jonelle Mantanona taking 3rd.
After a long day of bar banging the late afternoon cool down for the riders and their friends and family was blessed with a cool breeze and great food hot off the barbecues. Round 5 is the Moto Mash and will be open for spectators to come and enjoy on Saturday and Sunday May 23rd and 24th at the Tebo Motocross Park in the village of Yona. Round 5 is a special 2 day event that will see close championship motocross on both days.
