Smokin’ Hot wins inaugural softball tournament

In the first ever Queens of the Pacific Women’s Softball Tournament, Guam’s Smokin’ Hot came away with the top trophy this past weekend at Guerrero Field, Paseo.

The weekend tournament drew two teams from Japan and one team each from CNMI and Korea, along with two Guam teams.

In the end, it was the American Legion/XSC team from Japan against Smokin’ Hot. American Legion made a bold statement with a 16-2 win in the double elimination championship format. Smokin’ Hot then fought back to win two in a row 15-4 and 13-3 to be named Queens of the Pacific.

1st Place: Smokin’ Hot (Guam)

2nd Place: American Legion/XSC (Japan) 

3rd Place: 670 Babes (CNMI)

4th Place: K-Town Batties (Korea)

5th Place: 平均的な 女性 (Average Janes) (Japan)

6th Place: Queen B’s (Guam)

According to tournament director Jessilyn Balajadia, there was nothing but great comments from the teams. She said it will be an annual event and looks forward to making it grow.
