With the score tied at 1-1, the FD Friars and Southern Dolphins High School Baseball match up was postponed in the bottom of the fourth inning due to rain causing unplayable field conditions Monday afternoon at the Chalan Pago Baseball Field.
FD looked to establish their offense early in the second inning as lead off batter Tyler Okiyama got on base on a walk. Okiyama was able to steal second before teammate Tyler Bautista was about to bat. Southern was able to capitalize off Bautista’s in-field grounder as they tagged Okiyama out while trying to advance to third as well as catching Bautista as he tried to steal to second base on an impressive double play to halt FD’s momentum.
The Southern Dolphins got on board first in the top of the third inning as Brian Bunag stole home on a fielder’s choice. Southern used good defense to keep the Friars at bay for the first half of the game.
However, FD managed to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth inning as Tyler Okiyama stole home on an overthrow to second by the Dolphins just moments before the rainfall that caused the game cancellation.
No set continuation date has been established but will resume in the bottom of the fourth inning with the Friars at bat; with no outs and runners on second and third base.
