The Northern All-Stars proved to be too much for the MTM Falcons II as the final score stood at 63-23 in the last game of round-robin play in the 16 and under division of the 2012 Summer Jamz basketball tournament.
At the start of the game, both teams struggled to execute drives to the basket and only earned points at the free throw line. While the All-Stars continued to struggle under the rim, the Falcons struggled to maintain possession due to consecutive turnovers.
After five minutes of play, a pass from All-Stars Agustin Choi to Justin Dimla ended in a well-timed alley-oop for the opening field goal of the game and was the start of an 8-0 run. Utilizing their full-court press, the All-Stars were able to force turnovers and steals from the unsure hands of the Falcons. With less than four minutes, Christian Sellers tried to chip away at the lead for his Falcons, dropping three short jumpers in the process. To end the half, All-Stars Daniel Del Carmen made a three at the buzzer to help his team stay well ahead of the competition making the score 36-8.
The All-Stars continued to rack up points in the second half, but due to the 20-point mercy rule, they were kept within the three-point arc on defense. Sellers again tried to grab some points for his team, but was unable to rally from behind for a comeback.
Dimla led all scorers with 18 points, while teammate Del Carmen followed close behind with 16 points. Both teams played with the same five players throughout the game, as they both did not have any subs.
