PRESS RELEASE – No movement in the Budweiser Soccer League Division I rankings were noted following Week 12 matches at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Quality Distributors remain in first place after edging the Paintco Strykers 2-1. The match stayed deadlocked at 0-0 until the 56th minute when the Strykers’ Jan-Willem Staman made good on a free-kick opportunity that was mishandled by Quality goalkeeper Brett Maluwelmeng.

Aaron Scott scored the game equalizer in the 83rd minute to satisfy Quality’s desperation for a goal and five minutes later, an Osei Tutu header that snuck into the right side of the goal cemented Quality’s victory.

In other Division I matches, Table 35 Espada FC deployed its stars from the IIAAG High School Boys Soccer League – including high school championship game MVP Reed Meyer as goalkeeper – and dismantled Guam Shipyard 4-1 to secure second place in the rankings.

Nick Roberto, TJ Atalig, Edwin Wong and Ricky Katsumata each scored one for Table 35. Katsumata, a former resident of Guam and current high school student in Japan, returned to the island for a brief visit and included the soccer game in his itinerary. Ashton Surber, current Division I Golden Boot leader, scored Shipyard’s lone goal in the contest.

In Week 12’s final Division I game, the Cobras defeated Doosan FC 8-1. Jeremy Copple and Christian Surber each netted two goals and teammates Austin Cruz, Keith Surber, Sydney Talledo and Adam Rivera also added to the Cobras’ tally. Luis Quichocho scored the lone goal for Doosan.

In Division II action, the IP&E Sidekicks remained in the second place for the second week in a row with a narrow 1-0 win over Pago Bay Disasters. Gregorio Borja scored the eventual game winner in the 82nd minute.

The Rovers FC blanked the FC Shotguns 5-0 behind two goals each from Take Inoue and Kyle Legozzie. Ben Young also scored for the Rovers. Inoue moves into a first-place tie with FC Shotguns’ Yu Tanabe in Division II’s Golden Boot race each with 11 goals for the season.

The Crushers FC overcame a 1-0 deficit from halftime to edge Xtra Krispy FC 2-1. Xtra Krispy’s Matt Robles opened scoring in the 43rd minute. The Crushers’ Shawn Spindel scored two second-half goals to secure the win for his team.

Big Blue’s Ryan Crisostomo scored both the game equalizer and eventual game winner against the United FC Vipers. United’s Jarred Collado scored his team’s lone goal.

In the Masters Division, Family FC remains undefeated with a 3-0 shutout of Big Blue. Chan Sik Park scored twice and teammate Yun Kang also scored for Family FC.

The Rovers FC blanked the Paintco Strykers 6-0 behind a hat trick from Jan-Hendrik Meidinger and two goals from Luis Larrazabal. Carlos Barajas scored the Rovers’ other goal.
