PRESS RELEASE- The Division I leader board continues to change weekly in the Budweiser Soccer League.

Following Week 8 matches, Guam Shipyard regained the No. 1 spot in league rankings following its 10-1 win over Doosan FC, coupled with a Quality Distributors 3-3 draw with Table 35 Espada FC at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Table 35 struck first Sunday with a Kristian Cruz goal in the 19th minute. The Father Duenas Memorial School senior blazed down the right side and finished his shot, getting the ball to the opposite post for the score. Two minutes later, teammate Mark Chargualaf made it a 2-0 game.

Despite the deficit, Quality continued to put pressure on Table 35’s defense. Quality was rewarded in the 29th minute, when goalkeeper Brett Maluwelmeng booted the ball to the opposite end of the pitch, finding Scott Spindel who finished the play for the 2-1 score that remained through to the halftime whistle.

When the game restarted, Spindel was at it again, scoring the equalizer three minutes into the second half. Later, after being swarmed near the goal with the ball, Spindel found teammate Matt Cruz on the left wing. Cruz’s shot to the opposite post over Table 35 goalkeeper Joe Laanan gave his team the lead for the first time in the match.

The seesaw battle for ball possession continued for over 30 minutes. Table 35 finally caught a break when Christian Schweizer connected on a cross from Dylan Naputi in the 86th minute to even the score for the final time.

In other Division I matches, Guam Shipyard’s Ashton Surber recorded a double hat trick against Doosan FC. Marcus Lopez scored twice for the winning team and teammate Christopher Reyes scored once. Shipyard’s other goal came on a Doosan own goal in the first minute. Anthony Manibusan scored Doosan’s lone goal in the 65th minute.

The Southern Cobras’ Austin Cruz notched a hat trick and teammates Keith Surber and Jan Flores each scored twice in the team’s 7-4 victory over the Paintco Strykers. Jan-Willem Staman scored twice and Hiro Asoshina and Jonathan Archibald each scored once for the Strykers.

In Division II matches, late goals from the United FC Vipers forced FC Shotguns to settle for a 3-3 draw. The Vipers’ Antonio Prieto, Jared Pangindian and Sora Recella each scored once after over 80 minutes of play. Yu Tanabe scored twice for the Shotguns and Patrick Sherman scored once.

One goal each from Natsuki Recella and Take Inoue was enough for the Rovers FC to defeat the Crushers FC 2-1. Joshua Pangelinan scored for the Crushers.

The Ambassadors defeated Big Blue 3-1 behind two goals from Brad Miller and one from Gabriel Sanchez. Nathan Camacho scored Big Blue’s lone goal.

In the Masters Division, Family FC remains atop league standings following a 7-0 shut out of IT&E/IP&E. Sangwon Park scored twice and teammates Se Lim, Yun Kang, Yeon Seong Kim, David Jun and Chul Park added to the scoring tally.

Big Blue moves into second place in the rankings following its 5-1 win over the Paintco Strykers. Jack Kido scored four goals for Big Blue and teammate Pepito Bedia, Jr. scored once. Gerry Lunod scored the Strykers’ lone goal.
