LATE RUN LIFTS TYPHOONS I

The Tamuning Typhoons I Team grounded the high flying Andersen Bombers 69-57 Thursday night, in the battle of the unbeaten teams in the Annual Summer Jam at the Tamuning gym.
Derrick Royster led the Typhoons with a game-high 15 points while teammate Joe Blas chipped in 11 points.
Royster explained his points come in the flow of the game saying,”Our philosophy is ‘inside out.’ We try and work the inside as much as possible so we can work the ball outside and hit three’s. My teammates try and get the ball to me so I can open up the floor and allow the other players to get going too. The Bombers’ have a lot of heart to, they are very strong and aggressive.”
The Typhoons were leading 50-49 after a Bombers Reginal Baylor basket until Typhoons J.P. Cruz sparked a 10-0 run, along with hitting back-to-back three pointers to stretch the lead 60-49.
The Bombers could not recover from the run, allowing the Typhoons to remain the only undefeated team in the tournament.
Bombers’ Ledget Glover led the team with 14 points and teammate Christopher Thomas added 12.
Blas led the charge for the Typhoons in the first half, where he scored most of his points, but the Bombers still managed to grab a 27-25 lead in the first half.
Blas then quickly erased the deficit by getting quick buckets in the second half to recapture the lead. Royster then gave the Typhoons the lead for good after hitting a three pointer from the right wing, 36-34.

Typhoons’ Reggie Rechebong extended the lead with his first three-point jumper of the game at 39-35, which led to a fast break dunk by Glover to keep the Bombers close.
After a couple of back and forth buckets, the Typhoons got rolling from behind the arc with Rechebong hitting his second three, followed by a corner three-pointer by teammate James Stake to extend the lead 50-43.
The Bombers quickly cut the lead to a single possession at 50-49 before Cruz sparked the run which was the difference in the game.
The Typhoons advance to 8-0 while the Bombers drop to 7-1.
