FINALISTS DECIDED IN TAG CUP 2014 PRELIMS

In celebration of Memorial Weekend, the army and air force got together to put on a combatives tournament in the preliminary round of the 2014 Tag Cup. The top finishers in the army and air force advance to the finals which is set to take place on July 12th at CSMS.

“This is the first time we’ve had the combatives event in the adjutant general cup. Hand-to-hand combat is army warrior and air force warrior task so this is training these guys receive in basic training. The defining characteristics of a warrior is to close and engage with the enemy so what better way to do that than in the spirit of competition of our air force counterparts,” said event coordinator SFC VJ Santos on how the tournament came to be.

The turnout a success for Santos in seeing members of family there for support.

“The camaraderie knowing that we’re still brothers and sisters in arms and that is our intent,” added Santos.
