The FD Friars took siege in the 5th inning where they separated themselves from a close contest, beating the Okkodo Bulldogs 11-3 at the Paseo stadium Thursday evening. The Friars advance to a league best (4-1) while the Bulldogs fall to (3-3).
FD was enjoying an earl 3-0 lead in the top of the 5th inning when Bulldogs Jeremy Flores went to work. Friars pitcher Austin Pedro let loose a fast ball that Flores took full advantage by slamming an RBI double to get Okkodo on the board. The Friars then committed two straight errors that allowed Flroes and a teammate to score to tie the game at 3 runs each.
FD managed to escape the inning without giving up the lead and, in turn, turned their 5th inning into the game winning inning.
Bulldogs pitcher Alan Palacios gave up three straight runs off walks which allowed FD to go up 6-3 . Friars Blaine Hattori then added on to the run getting a great hit to the short stop, but a fielders choice allowed a run to score.
The throw to second base to try and tag Hattori was well off allowing another run to score to go up 8-3. A pass ball then scored another run for the Friars, bringing in Hattori, to go up 9-3.
The Bulldogs were held down through the final two innings while FD managed to tack on two more runs to help them advance to their league best record.
The Friars scored their first two runs early in the game and brought in another run in the 3rd inning off an error.
