For the second straight meeting, the FD Friars and Southern Dolphins went into overtime, but this time the Friars got the 51-50 win at the Dolphins home court in Tuesday night boys high school basketball action.
With 10.1 seconds left in overtime and the Friars up 51-50, forward Nic Aglubat stepped up to the free throw line to try and further the Friar lead, but missed the first of a 1-on-1 free throw throw situation.
The Dolphins were presented with a prime chance to either score or take the lead off their own 1-on-1 situation on the following possession, but missed the first free throw as well.
With less than three seconds to go, the Dolphins fouled Friar guard Bruce Merrill, where he missed the first free throw on another 1-on-1 situation, but the Dolphins missed a half court heave as time expired giving the Friars the overtime win.
The Friars held a 10-point lead at the half, but the Dolphins stormed back in the third quarter which led to a series of back and forth scoring.
