PRESS RELEASE – The local community is invited to the year’s fourth and final “Meet the Matao” day, presented by Bank of Guam, beginning at 5 p.m. Monday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.
The Guam men’s national team called up to play in the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia and AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Joint Preliminary Qualification Round 2 match against I.R. Iran, as well as the team’s staff, will be available following a short training session for autographs, photos, and interviews. All who attend will receive a Bank of Guam carabank while supplies last.
The community event precedes the highly anticipated match up between Guam and I.R. Iran, the current leaders of Asia’s Group D in this qualification round. I.R. Iran also is Asia’s top-ranked country, pegged at No. 43 in the most recent FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings released earlier this month. After six qualification matches, Guam is tied for third place in Asia’s Group D standings with a 2-3-1 record. The two sides are set to face off Tuesday, beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the GFA National Training Center.
Tickets for Guam’s final home match of Round 2 Qualifiers are available for purchase at the GFA Main Office. VIP tickets are $25 each and Category 1 and 2 tickets are $20 each. General admission is $10.
For more information, call the GFA Main Office at 637-4321.

The team will be holding another meet-and-greet event, this time presented by Bank of Guam, at the Guam Football Association National Training Center on Monday, beginning at 5 p.m. The team currently is in Guam to play against I.R. Iran in its final home match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia and AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 2.
