The JFK Islanders grabbed a strong 2-0 home win over the Sanchez Sharks Saturday afternoon as the IIAAG girls soccer season kicked off earlier in the week. JFK defend home by scoring two quick goals in the opening 20 minutes while blanking the Sharks.

Islander Aubrey Mafnas scored the games first goal and teammate Izella Navarro got a clean shot off a rebound to set the tone early.

The Sharks moved around all-purpose player Caylani Estoy to try and park the offense, but the Islander defense made the evening a little easier for their keeper Frencine Villena.

JFK’s striker Irish Catabog nearly came away with a highlight score header in the first half off a free ball in the air, but the attempt was saved.
