SPECIAL OLYMPICS WILL HOST 44TH ANNUAL EVENT ON MARCH 14th

PRESS RELEASE – The Special Olympics Guam Committee announces the 44th Annual Track and Field Event. The 2020 Special Olympics Track and Field event will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Okkodo High School in Dededo.

Opening Ceremony starts at 8 a.m., with the parade of athletes, the Law Enforcement Torch Run (from Navy to Okkodo) and the lighting of the cauldron.

SOGU has a total of six sporting programs for the year: Athletic (Track and Field), Swimming, Unified Bowling, Unified Badminton, Unified Softball and Unified Soccer. These sporting events will cultivate, support and enrich the development for persons with or without disabilities.

Special Olympics Guam (SOGU) is a registered non-profit organization on Guam, that is accredited and recognition by Special Olympics International (SOI) the governing body for this Global Movement; SOGU is proud to announce that it strategically relocated to Special Olympics Asia Pacific Region as a means to become recognized by our surrounding island communities throughout the Asia and Pacific Region.

Special Olympics Guam is dedicated in providing sporting opportunities for people with intellectual disability and the equality of opportunity for all our athletes regardless of ability or degree of disability since 1976. SOGU is a global movement run entirely by volunteers.

Volunteers who provide the power necessary to ensure every athlete is offered a sports training and competition experience and empower each athlete to be productive citizens of this Island Community. The Revolution of Inclusion is here!
