One of Guam’s old school strongmen has passed away.

Joe Pangelinan, simply known as Gaga because of his brute strength, succumbed to cancer at the age of 51.

Gaga was a staple at local gyms for the past three decades dating back to Gold’s Gym in Maite. He trained countless athletes in building strength. He competed in the first ever I Mas Metgot Competition in 2021, assisting GSPN in the development of Guam’s Strongest Man and Woman event.

It was then that he believed he acquired cancer. Battling the disease throughout 2022, Pangelinan made it not to compete but to support the 2nd Annual I Mas Metgot Competition this past October.

GSPN and the Strongman community mourns the loss of Joe Gaga. RIP!
