DOLPHINS SHOCK SHARKS IN SOUTHERN WATERS

Southern gets a big win over Sanchez

Published on

The Southern Dolphins ended the 2023 ISA Girls Basketball League regular season by gifting themselves a nice 47-40 victory package over the Sanchez Sharks Thursday night at the Oceanview gym in Hagat.

Lana Quinata and Brielle Naputi both scored 13 points to guide the Dolphins to victory.

Southern finishes the season in the 4th seed at 6-4 and will face the top-seeded JFK Islanders in the semifinals.

The Sharks dropped to 7-3 on the season, but still get a slot in the semis against the Okkodo Bulldogs next week.

It was a tight game throughout as it was tied at 23-23 at halftime. The Dolphins had just enough down the stretch to take the win as Naputi and Keiviann Susuico both scored six points in the fourth quarter.

Ronnie Dela Cruz had 10 points for Sanchez – nine of them in the second quarter.

The semifinals are scheduled next Wednesday, December 27 with the championship game set for December 29.
