The St. John’s Knights won the IIAAG Girls Middle School Volleyball League championship tonight with a tough 25-27, 25-10, 15-11 win over the SIFA Manta Rays. (SIFA is a charter school and stands for Science is Fun and Awesome)

Caroline Higley was the player of the game with 2 kills, 8 aces, and 13 digs.

The Knights squeaked into the four-team playoffs with a regular season win over a tough Bishop team.

“Being the 4th seed, I told my girls we had nothing to lose and we did just that, defeating the previously undefeated #1 St. Anthony Raiders in 3 sets on Monday and beating the #2 seed SIFA Manta Rays in 3 sets tonight,” Knights head coach Arvin Flores said. “It was a tough game, but I told the girls to just go after balls and be confident. They just needed to focus on one point at a time and focus on the specific moment. I’m proud of all their accomplishments and I’m hoping they can continue their hard work throughout high school”

SIFA made it to the championship game a year after finishing the league in last place.

Congratulations to both teams.
