FD Brotherhood get annual tournament started

Opening night of the 2023 FD Alumni Basketball Tournament kicked off Friday night at The Jungle.

The old dudes kicked things off with knee braces and Salonpas. The Classes of 1975 and 1979/80 got the tournament underway tied at 27-27, going into the unique 3-point shootout tiebreaker.

The 79-80 team outscored its seniors it a 4-2 hockey style shootout to win the old man opener. Danilo Rapadas led the high-scoring affair with seven points and Marty Santos added six for the ’79/80 squad, while Donovan Brooks had six for the ’75ers.

In the second game, the Class of 16/17 destroyed the Class of 2018 100-32. Devin Sudo had 34 points with R.J. Rokop dropping 27 points, including 7 3-pointers.

Kyle Gaitan had nine points and Colin Camacho had eight for the poor 2018 squad.

In the nightcapper, Christian Leon Guerrero had a game-high 34 points to lead the Class of 2020 to a 77-49 win over the Class of 2002/04. Big Matt Fegurur added 24 points for ’20.

#36 led ’02/’04 with 13 points.
