PRESS RELEASE – The Para Todu Rugby Club (PTRC) defeated the Bangers 22-19 in an exciting finish to the Lady Triton Women’s Rugby Invitational Tournament on Sunday afternoon at the UOG Rugby/Soccer Field. Guam Rugby Club (GRC) captured 3rd Place in the tournament with a 19-10 victory over the Boka Barbs and the UOG Lady Tritons won the program’s first ever match for 5th Place with a 10-7 win over the Bulldogs.

In the championship match, the Bangers jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first half, but the PTRC team cut the lead to 14-5 at halftime. The Bangers would move their lead to 19-5 early in the 2nd half, but then PTRC would make their move late in the game, with a tough defense keeping the Bangers deep in their half of the field for the rest of the match which led to 3 straight scores for PTRC to take 22-19 victory over the Bangers.
PTRC finished the tournament 3-1, avenging their pool play loss to the Bangers on Saturday (17-24). The Bangers also had a 3-1 record as well.
In the 3rd place, the GRC team defeated the Boka Barbs for the 2nd time in the tournament, with a 19-10 win, following a 14-10 win in pool play over the Barbs on Saturday. GRC finished with 3-1 record in the tournament, with their lost coming to PTRC in the semi-finals, 21-10. The Boka Barbs lost to the Bangers 45-5 in the semi-finals.
The Lady Tritons from the University of Guam won their first ever match in the short women’s rugby history at UOG, in their 2nd tournament ever, with a 10-7 win over the Bulldogs. UOG had a 1-3 record in the tournament while the Bulldogs finished 0-4.
Tanya Siford of Para Todu Rugby Club was named the Most Valuable player in the tournament and the tournament named a 10 member “All-Tournament” team as well.
