For the first time since the GDOE split from the IIAAG to establish the Interscholastic Sports Association in 2019, public and private schools faced off again in the Interscholastic Boys High School Soccer League, run by the Guam Football Association.
As the sun set during Wednesday’s season opener, the defending IIAAG champion FD Friars dominated the Tiyan Titans, outshooting them 15-0 on at JFK’s Ramsey Field.

The Friars quickly took control, scoring three goals within the first minutes of the first half. While the Friars maintained pressure, the Titans showed resilience, working hard to fortify their defense and prevent further scoring.
FD striker Hyunwoo Kim was relentless, netting several consecutive goals and bringing the score to 7-0. He was joined by Samuel Stenson, Sean Halehale, and Mason Manibusan, who each added to the tally, ending the first half with an impressive 11-0 lead.
As the second half began, both teams reset their strategies. The Friars resumed control of the match, with Stenson striking first to make it 12-0. The Titans, determined to make their mark, saw Nick Baza sprint down the field in a bid for a goal, but Kim responded with another quick score, extending the lead to 14-0.
As the game wound down, the Titans rallied, bolstered by their goalie Kanen Blas, whose quick reflexes helped prevent further goals. The match concluded with a resounding 15-0 victory for the Friars.
In the other matchup of opening night, the St. John’s Knights took down the Notre Dame Royals 4-1.
