The 2024 WBSC Oceania Baseball U12 World Cup Qualifier will come down to Guam vs. Australia in the championship game Monday morning at 10:30 at the Guerrero Field.

Both teams finished the 3-team tournament with 3-1 records, while the CNMI was winless at 0-4 in the double round robin format over the weekend.

Guam and Australia split their games on Saturday and Sunday in contrasting styles: Guam winning the Saturday game 12-5 before Australia coming back on Sunday to blank Guam 16-0.

SUNDAY’S GAMES

Guam had to outgun the CNMI 15-11 in the morning game, taking a lot of energy to do so. Messiah Elm went 3-for-4 and scored four runs, while Rai Cruz went 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs and three runs scored.

Guam could’ve clinched the Qualifier with a win over Australia in the afternoon game, but instead struggled 16-0, giving up 14 runs in the third inning alone. Cruz was the lone Guam batter to get a hit.

Meanwhile, the defense succumbed to 15 errors, while the Aussie’s played errorless ball.

The winner of Monday morning’s match will advance to the U12 World Cup in Taipei next summer.
