PANTHERS WIN OVERALL 2024 API MEET

Guam High squeaks past Kinnick for API championship

The Guam High Panthers took the overall team championship in the 2024 Asia Pacific Invitational after individual and relay events Monday and Tuesday in Japan.

The Panthers finished the boys division in 2nd place and 3rd place in the girls division. They took 1st in Tuesday’s relay division to beat out Nile C. Kinnick by one point to take the overall title.

According to Stars & Stripes sports editor Dave Ornauer, this is the first time Guam High has won this competitive meet and the first for legendary coach Joe Taitano since he led the JFK Islanders to the Far East cross country championship in 2000.
