PLATE PATIENCE LEADS FD OVER SOUTHERN

Alvarez steady on the mound for the Friars

In a matchup of 2-0 teams coming in, the FD Friars displayed patience at the plate to roll to a 12-1 win over the Southern Dolphins Thursday in the Interscholastic Baseball League.

Wendy’s Players of the Game: Evan Acosta and Saez Alvarez

Starting pitcher Saez Alvarez tossed four innings, striking out five and giving up a run to guide the Friars. Cameron Ayuyu pitched a perfect fifth inning with two strikeouts to close out the 10-run rule in five innings.

Southern starter Koa Parks struggled with six walks, leading to seven FD runs in the opening inning.

The Friars added three more runs in the third and two in the fourth to cap off their scoring.

Evan Acosta, Max Dirige and Daethan Alcantara all came up with RBI’s for FD.

In the other game on Thursday, the ND Royals flushed the Guam High Panthers 19-0 in four innings.
